SECOND DAY @ CIFF: Let's get together

There are many reasons why people should join CIFF. Designers, buyers, press and visitors all get to Bella Center looking for connections, ideas, inspiration and, of course business.

The exhibitors list ranges from upcoming talents to big brands, each of them with a different story to tell. And it’s CIFF’s goal to provide them with the right place to express themselves.

«We come from Japan and we deliberately chose CIFF to grow our export because we felt it way the best way to make ourselves internationally known», says Calee Founder and Designer Hiromasa Takahashi. Tatsuo Hino is Japanese too and he is Beams Cultural Engineer. He’s in charge of the three brands that the top directional store chain selected to represent their country at CIFF: «We’ve been here before and we keep coming because this is the only place where buyers can stop by and start a conversation», he says, «of course we meet them elsewhere, but it’s not the same. We can spend some quality time together».

Raimund Berthold launched Berthold a few seasons ago in London and quite agrees with the idea that creativity and business need a break from hectic schedules from time to time: «We are all constantly busy, but I believe inspiration also comes from slowing down a bit». CIFF key to success actually stays in that bit: a combination between a laid back atmosphere and great chances to create bigger and better networks.

«It’s Patrizia Pepe’s debut at CIFF and we are very happy to be here», says Sabrina Sands, International Key Account Manager, «we are building bridges with nordic market and, thanks to CIFF super professional organization, it was all so easy. When we arrived the space was exactly the way we wanted it». Alfredo Orobio, the brasilian Founder of the design collective AwaytoMars, shares the feeling about the logistic: «I’m so grateful that CIFF logistic is that efficient, that makes such a difference».

Scotch & Soda joined CIFF for the first time and a spoke-person from the brand explains the reason why: «We believe this is the place to be. We like the area where we are located and we also much appreciate the Machine A curated special project at the entrance: it’s so inspiring». Riots Studio is an acknowledged showroom in Copenhagen among others representing Closed, which brought here the collection created in collaboration with Closed founder François Girbaud. Bent Lee who’s part of the company has a broader vision about joining CIFF: «I think it’s important to share the contacts we all have with other brands or showrooms, it’s the best way to support each other».

CIFF it’s also open to the unexpected, like Maria Black pop up piercing studio. «Maria designed some piercing pieces and she wanted to provide our customers the best piercing experience», says the Sales Manager, Kristine Hannah Loebner. «We hired Asser, who’s one of the most respected piercers in Denmark, and we arranged a permanent studio in our store. We thought CIFF was the perfect place to communicate it». The most unusual booth, though, is Byborre truck parked ouside CIFF entrance. The Amsterdam based company is a textile studio working on innovative fabric solutions and the truck drove all the way to Copenhagen to join CIFF. «People get curious about the unconventional setting and they come in. It’s a good way to get connected and to explain our peculiarities», says Samuel de Goede, Chief Pocket Officer.

Catwalks too get a better taste at CIFF. Han Kjǿbenhavn arranged a show that was also a provocative installation, with hospital beds inside a cage. While Hærværk created a rhomboid runway made with mud to stress the tough attitude of the brand. Quite different moods, but both thought out of the box. Just like CIFF is.
