The brand exist because it must
66˚North was founded in 1926 as a matter of survival for Icelandic fisherman and soon thereafter Icelandic search and rescue teams. Quality, durability, performance, and necessity are our enduring virtues due to both near-mythical challenges from the unpredictable Icelandic climate, and because in a small nation our customers have always been our friends, family, and neighbors. Our clothes reflect the sometimes-hostile nature around us and our promise of protection for our community.
We want the world to experience the power and beauty of the North. This means clothes which make life and activity possible where there would otherwise be none, and business practices which conserve and protect the North at a time when our glaciers, weather, and natural landscape are under dramatic threat from climate change. This is what we mean when we say our products are “Made for Life.”
