CEO at Amero: “Fashion needs a stable tech ecosystem. We’re part of the foundation that supports this shift”

At CIFF, Amero joined the platform for the first time, positioning itself as a reliable POS and payments partner for brands navigating an increasingly fluid retail landscape. Founder and CEO Jakob Højland sees Amero as part of the invisible infrastructure behind modern fashion – ensuring seamless omnichannel transactions, stable integrations, and flexible tech ecosystems that allow brands to focus on design, storytelling and customer relationships while the systems simply work.

What motivated Amero to join CIFF for the first time, and how does this partnership support your position in the Nordic fashion and retail industry?

The boundaries between wholesale, D2C, pop-ups, events and e-commerce are becoming more fluid. At Amero, we see ourselves as an enabler in that transformation. We’re a POS partner brands can rely on – not just another software provider.

That’s why partnering with CIFF was a natural next step. We’ve been working with fashion and lifestyle brands across the Nordics for years and we want to share our decades of experience with the CIFF community.

CIFF brings together brands that are increasingly working across physical and digital channels. How does Amero help fashion brands create a seamless omnichannel experience – especially at the payment moment?

At Amero, we make sure POS, ERP, e-commerce and payments work together. Stock levels, pricing and transaction data are aligned, so staff don’t have to second-guess what’s available or what’s been sold where.

Our job is to make sure payments are fast, stable and integrated into the retailer’s existing systems. It’s the most critical part of the customer journey, and we want staff to be able to focus on the customer, not the screen.

Payments are often invisible when they work well. Why is it so critical for retailers that payments “just work,” and how does Amero ensure stability – even in situations with unstable internet connections?

When payments work, no one notices. When they don’t, everyone does.

At Amero, stability is a core priority. We work with robust payment integrations and solutions that can operate even in offline mode. Transactions can still be completed securely, even if the internet connection drops.

Our solution is built to handle high-traffic stores. Payments have to work no matter what.

Amero is built with an integration-first and ERP-agnostic mindset. Can you elaborate on how your 30+ integrations make it easier for fashion brands to upgrade their POS setup without replacing their entire tech stack?

Many fashion brands rely heavily on their ERP system for inventory, finance and logistics. Replacing that core system is costly and disruptive.

With 30+ integrations and an open API, retailers can connect to ERP systems, payment providers, e-commerce platforms and other tools, making it possible to upgrade the POS layer independently.

This modular approach gives retailers the flexibility to develop step by step instead of taking on large, risky transformation projects. That agility is a competitive advantage and, in my experience, what most brands prefer.

After three days at CIFF connecting with brands and retailers, what insights or key takeaways are you bringing back – and how do you see Amero’s role evolving within the fashion tech ecosystem moving forward?

We see a demand for a stable and flexible tech ecosystem. Especially with the upcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation and Digital Product Passports, focusing on transparency and accessibility of product data.

Going forward, I see Amero’s role as part of the foundation that supports this shift. Not the most visible layer, but one that ensures transactions, product data and integrations are reliable and structured.

We make sure things work, while brands do what they do best; design, storytelling, and customer relationships.
