EVISU’s origins lie in Yamane’s devotion to authenticity: initially producing just around 14 pairs of jeans a day, each hand-painted with the iconic seagull motif, the label quickly captured the imagination of Japan’s detail-obsessed fashion scene and sparked a global vintage-denim renaissance. From its first “Old Hampshire Bond” shop in Osaka to today’s worldwide boutiques, EVISU has stayed true to its commitment to traditional shuttle-loom weaving, loop-dyeing indigo yarns up to 30 times for that deep hue, and meticulous craftsmanship at every stage. While its signature selvedge jeans remain the heart of the brand, EVISU has expanded into tailored and lifestyle lines—introducing fishing and golf collections in the ’90s and a women’s range in 1999—without ever compromising the hand-finished details and premium materials that define its legacy.
